Happy 2nd Birthday, Addison Jane!

I can't believe my baby is two today. I've actually been trying to call her "my big girl" and not "my baby" lately, but it's hard! We had to cancel her beach party because of a cold front...it is currently in the 50's in Miami! We still had a little party at our house for her and she enjoyed the day very much (I will post pictures soon). Her two year doctor appointment is on Wednesday.

I love ...
  • that her favorite color is blue. Every time she sees blue she points it out and gets so excited.
  • how she collects leaves when we go on a walk! Recently we found a heart shaped leaf and she treasures it.
  • her excitement about letters. I've been teaching her the letters in her name and when she sees them in a book or something she points them out!
  • when she shushes the dogs when they bark at the door. I wonder if she will shush the baby when she cries.
  • how brave she is becoming in her gymboree class. She is the first to try each activity now, minus the dancing!
  • that she insists on wearing my shoes when we take the trash to the chute in the hallway. She looks so cute in them! I usually wear Andrew's flip flops.
  • how she says "dooo dooo" instead of "choo choo". Grammy and Poppy got her a new train set for her birthday!
  • when she kisses my legs when they hurt (pregnancy legs!).
  • her bed head after a nap, especially when it was braided or in pig tails!
  • our little field trips together. It's so fun to do a non errand type of outing with her like to the Seaquarium or Jungle Island.
  • our Friday tradition. After her gymboree glass we go to the coffee shop to share a muffin and watch the little birds eat our crumbs!
  • watching her play with her grandparents and uncles. She adores all of them and we are so thankful that she has the opportunity to get to know them.

Jungle Island

Today we went to Jungle Island (formerly Parrot Island) for the first time and got an annual pass! Addison and I both really enjoyed it. The weather was cool and overcast and there are plenty of trees for shade which was nice. Addison got to feed the fish, maybe next time we'll be brave enough to feed the parrots! On our way out of the park, we stopped to say "bye bye" to the parrots and they said "bye bye" back. Then I laughed so hard because Addison LOVED that, then the parrot laughed back.  It made me so happy. There are several shows and a petting zoo that we didn't get to today, but now we have all year!

it wasn't sunny, but she wanted to wear some sunglasses

we also saw several unique wild cats and monkeys

Addison enjoyed watching this huge tortoise eat

Miami Seaquarium

Today we went to the Miami Seaquarium with a friend and her baby. The Seaquarium is about 4 miles from our apartment and we got an annual pass! We got there pretty much when they opened and stayed for about 2.5 hours.  There is too much to see and do in one day for her, so I'm glad we can go back! Addison really enjoyed it all. There was a stingray touch tank and I wanted to be brave and show Addison how cool it was, but I'm not that brave!

Today we saw ...

dolphins

 manatees

sea lions

alligators

an iguana that she wanted to run straight to (Tommy would be proud!)

 sea turtles

she loved how bumpy this alligator was

we snacked during the shows

Augoo

Last weekend Nana got Addison to very clearly say "Audrey" a few times.  Since then she says "Augoo".  Either way, I think it is the sweetest thing to hear! She also gives "Augoo" kisses! However, sometimes she gets frustrated with the baby in my growing belly. Like when we read in the glider before nap and bedtime. She just can't get comfortable sharing that chair with me anymore. We've tried sitting side by side and in my lap. I've spent so many wonderful hours with her in that glider, but I think Addison and I have officially outgrown it. Sometime next month we are going to set up her toddler bed (thank you Grandpa and Grandma!). I think I will just have to read books with her in bed now!

15 weeks to go!

I am 25 weeks now...about 15 weeks to go! Last week I had my glucose test and I passed! With Addison I failed the hour glucose test and had to do a three hour test, so I'm pretty excited that I passed. Addison is starting to cut both of her bottom two-year molars. Her second birthday is in two weeks!

This weekend we went to the west coast for Amanda's baby shower and to visit.

Excited to be an aunt and to meet little Madilynn.

Papa made us a yummy dinner on the grill. He also saved the day when Addison's favorite teddy ripped open right before her nap. Dr. Papa stitched Teddy up and Addison was very relieved.

reading with Nana

We also got to see her beloved Grammy and PoppyT, Great Grammy, Uncle Benjamin, Uncle Michael, and her cousin Colin! It was a nice weekend. Andrew had to work most of the day on Saturday, but had Sunday and Monday off. Until he was called in at 7 tonight to go work! I'm really glad he likes his job and coworkers!

Fairchild Gardens

Today I went with some new friends to Fairchild Gardens. The butterfly garden was so beautiful and FULL of butterfliesAddison enjoyed walking.  I don't even know why I bother to bring a stroller places anymore!
