Time to get a toothbrush

Yesterday morning I went to get Addison from her crib and I noticed that she had her hand in her mouth.  I peeked in her mouth and saw the tip of a lower central incisor!  At first I was super excited, then it set in that she will no longer be my gummy-mouth baby.  She is growing up : (  Regardless of how I feel...its time to get a toothbrush.

Plums and Push Ups

On Sunday we got to see Stephen!
He seems to be doing well at school, just busy with football.

Today I gave Addison a piece of plum in her teething feeder thing.
She sucked on it a little, then she banged it around.

So I let her try without the teether...

This video is dedicated to Mom aka Grammy, who believes Addison is going to be very athletic, like her : )

Its official, Addison and I will be in Florida November 4-9, as will Aunt Tiffy! (Thank you Mom)

PS, my eyes are getting better!

New things

Here are some new things in Addison's life:

Bath time has transitioned from a sponge bath, to a baby tub, to a bath seat, to what we use now--a cushioned mat (thank you Erin for the great idea).

After trying 6 different sippy cups I think we are settling on the Avent soft spout one.  She still doesn't quite get how to tilt it back and hold it on her own, but with help she is doing well.

She is really trying to crawl.  She does push ups, lifts her belly, and manages to scoot around a bit.

She loves peek-a-boo.

Where is Addison?

Peek-a-boo!

Drew is playing basketball and soccer this school year which he enjoys.  Last night we saw Stephen and will see him again tomorrow.  I have been having a lot of eye trouble.  It started about a month ago and I went to the eye doctor thinking I had pink eye, but the doctor said it was seasonal allergies.  Well I've mostly been wearing my glasses and have had no issues until yesterday when I decided to try out my contacts again.  I must be allergic to the contacts or the solution.  My eyes are bright red, itchy, tearing, and my nose is stuffed.  One eye is almost swollen shut.  I feel pretty miserable, I look like a monster, and I have vowed to never wear contacts again!  On Monday I will try to get back into the eye doctors office for some help and an updated glasses prescription.

Laughin' Addison

Most of you know that Addison is a pretty serious baby.  You generally have to work hard to get a laugh out of her.  Drew, on the other hand, can get her to laugh pretty easily.  It melts my heart.

Climbing?

The past two days Addison has been trying to climb!  I guess.  She is really bad at it and gets frustrated, but tries anyway. She has no fear either...just lunges for what she wants.  I keep telling her that she is skipping a few milestones.  Her brain is a few steps ahead of her gross motor skills.

She was sitting up playing with a few toys then she saw my leg, lunged for it and started climbing.  She likes jeans.

If we are sitting too close to the toy basket, she grabs on to it...

pulls herself up...

wobbles and sits back down.

She also really loves the Bender Ball (at least someone uses it!).

I love my baby.

Tummy time as a 6.5 month old

Today I got my video camera back in the mail...thanks Steve!  Yes, I am the queen of forgetting things!  I thought it would be good to post a video of tummy time as a 6.5 month old.  She doesn't seem to mind it as much anymore, but still tires easily.  She is trying to move around!

Andrew and his ring

Andrew has a bad habit of taking his ring off, playing with it, spinning it, and banging it on things to prove its durability.  The ring is made of tungsten which is supposedly unbreakable once molded.  A few weeks after we got married we were visiting the Morrison's and Drew was showing off his ring by throwing it on the tile floor.  Well it broke.  Called the jeweler and he said it had a bubble, that it shouldn't brake or even get scratched, and replaced it.  While waiting for the replacement he wore a cheap gold ring from Wal Mart!  A few years later we were out for our anniversary dinner and sure enough he was playing with his ring.  We were eating out on a deck on the water at a fancy restaurant.  The ring fell and got wedged in between two pieces of the decking floor.  He used his knife to retrieve it while everyone watched.  There have been many occurrences like this!  Well yesterday we were walking around outside and he realized it was missing from his finger.  Once we were home he remembered something: earlier that day he was playing with it and was tucking in and out of his sock.  I know, I know...who does this?!  He looked around on the floor for it, but couldn't find it.  He sat down and saw it still tucked into his sock.

Chicago Children's Museum

On Thursday Andrew and I took Addison to the Chicago Children's Museum out on Navy Pier.  There are 4 infant non-walking areas and a lot of early childhood areas.  We got a year membership which covers 4 people over age 1 (hint hint Erin and any other visitors!).  Very excited to have a place to take her once winter strikes again.

The pad she is on has a mirror on it.

PS, she is not crawling yet, but she tries!  She lifts her bottom and scoots a little.

BFF

Last weekend we went on a train to Lincoln, IL to visit the Sansotta's and celebrate Molli Kay's 1st birthday!  Molli was so sweet with Addison.  She shared her toys, gave her hugs and kisses, and got pretty good at saying "baby".  Molli and Addison are opposites in many ways, at least as of now.  It will be interesting to see how they interact when they are older.  Hard to believe that they are only 6 months apart and that soon Addison will be able to crawl and walk around like Molli.

Birthday Girl aka Addison's BFF

Addison LOVED the watermelon

Lou Lou's new favorite hang out spot

Grammy got this Bitty Baby for Addison before she was born, well she got two: one with dark features and one with light features.  However I think Addison may have a mixture of both (light eyes and dark hair?)

She really likes the eyes.  Creepy, I know.

It's starting to get cool up here.  Its 52 and sunny today.  Time to get some winter clothes again now that I am 30 pounds lighter.

Doctor Visit

Addison's 6 month doctor visit went well.  She is now 14 lbs 13 oz and 25.5 inches long (just above 25th percentile).  Dr. Goldstein said she was doing great and was impressed with how well she was sitting!  He gave us the okay on all foods and water!  We ordered a straw sippy cup and it should arrive today.  She got another round of shots and has been a little cranky last night and this morning.  Hoping she will be in a better mood tomorrow because we are getting on a train and heading to Molli Kay's 1st birthday party!

Toes

I'm pretty sure I've had a post titled "Toes" before for when Addison started grabbing her toes, but this post is titled "Toes" for when she first sucked on her toes!  I had her on my lap today and I was reaching for a book to read and I caught her sucking on her toes!

Maybe this runs in the family, right Tommy?!

Other new things:

Addison now likes to stand, with help of course, and look in her toy basket.
She tries to pull herself up now too.

Addison likes the piano : )

Tomorrow we will go to her 6 month well visit with Dr. Goldstein.

Swinging at the Park

Today we went to a nearby park to test out the bucket swings!  It's a little cool today so she also wore shoes!  She was so distracted by the other kids, clouds, trees, and buildings but I think she enjoyed it!

Swingin' with Daddy

Swingin' with Mommy

love her in pink : )

6 months old!

Today is Addison's half birthday!  Can't believe it!

Last night we took her to the beach, well the "beach".  This was her first time experiencing sand.  Then we let her sit in the grass again, she loves the grass!

sinking in the sand

sucking in her bottom lip

trying to get her to look at the camera and not the grass

pulling the grass out
